Sometimes people don’t realize they want more support until their birth has already started. It’s definitely ideal to book a doula in advance to benefit from building a relationship with her and the education she provides in her prenatal visits with you. I always find I can make MORE of a difference during the actual birth when I’ve had the time beforehand to do this. However, if you didn’t get around to this in pregnancy, it’s not too late!

Our Last-Minute Doulas provide on call service to families in Vancouver who unexpectedly need support. Your doula will come to provide reassurance and comfort to you as the birthing woman, as well as provide break-relief and support for your partner.

Phone us when your birth starts or when you need support and we will send an available doula to support you.  Please note, this option is subject to availability.

Service Rates:

$65 per hour, minimum $200, up to a maximum of $800. This fee does NOT include or guarantee use of birth pool and pool supplies.

Subject to availability, a birth pool may be added for an additional $100.

Scheduled Prenatal Visits and Postpartum visits are optional and also are charged at a rate of $65/hour. Again, because in this case you aren’t paying someone to be on call for you specifically there is no guarantee of availability. Though availability is quite likely, it’s not guaranteed.

Booking your doula in advance and getting to know her is a huge asset. In addition, prenatal visits give SO much value to the client and substantially increase the likelihood of the family feeling confident during their birth and getting the birth they want. I actually would say they are of at least as much if not more value to my clients than the at-birth support. In addition, your investment in full doula services goes towards guaranteeing that someone will be on-call and available to you during your birth.

Availability is NOT gauranteed with Last Minute Care, and no back-up doula is gauranteed to be provided. It is possible that your doula will have to leave your birth to go to a reserved-space client’s birth if called.

However, if the idea of full doula support didn’t suit your needs, or if you are changing your mind at the last minute, Last Minute Doula support may be just what you need.
